The Derwent Group’s Alban Retail Park will be rebranded this month to become JunctionNINE Retail Park, following a landmark investment to date of £9 million as part of the property firm’s ongoing development of the scheme.

The Retail Park, which at almost a mile long is the longest of its kind in Europe, has also recently undergone major refurbishment and extension of a number of units, following deals with several new tenants in recent months. The latest retail and leisure operators to join the Retail Park include:

  • Fast food chain Subway, which has secured a 969 sq ft (90 sq m) unit 6G on a 10 year lease;
  • Specialist bed retailer Dreams, which signed up to a 10 year lease on a 8,000 sq ft (743 sq m) unit 6H;
  • Nandos is due to exchange this month taking a 3,500 sq ft (325 sq m) unit 10 on a 20 year term;
  • Starbucks, which has signed up for a 1,850 sq ft (172 sq m) unit 8 on a 20 year term; and
  • Pets at Home exchanged in December 2016 on an 8,758 sq ft unit on a 10 year lease on unit 5A

The five new store openings will be accompanied by Mothercare’s relocation to Unit 6D, between recent tenants Home Bargains and The Food Warehouse, taking 13,816 sq ft (1,283 sq m) on a 10 year lease. Fast food chain KFC has also relocated, securing a 2,648 sq ft (246 sq m) unit 11 on a 20 year lease. The Derwent Group is currently in detailed negotiations with a further three retail and leisure brands.

James Maule-Ffinch, Senior Asset Manager at The Derwent Group said:

“The rebrand of Alban Retail Park to JunctionNINE Retail Park, following the latest round of store openings, represents a major milestone in our ongoing development of this important scheme. As part of this investment and transformation we have sought to bring together an exciting and diverse mix of operators to form one major retail and leisure destination for Warrington and its surrounding catchment areas.”

Situated on the prominent Winwick Road, benefiting from strong traffic flows of 41,000 cars per day, JunctionNINE Retail Park is well placed to become one of Warrington’s prominent retail and leisure destinations. The new scheme will culminate in 211,000 sq ft (19,602 sq m) of prime retail space and 963 free car parking spaces.

Joint agents for JunctionNINE Retail Park are CSP and Petch & Co.
